Magazine inspo

ELLE Magazine: 

The reason I chose this magazine is because ELLE has chosen to feature a black model with Vitaligo which is very rare. The majority of fashion magazines primarily feature women of white colour However, Elle is clearly making a statement by writing, ‘The face of Now why difference is everything’,the message behind this statement ,to me , clearly suggests that ELLE is going to feature a variety of models with different skin tones and features. Elle is conventional yet edgy at the same time ,which is how i want my magazine to be. ELLE is conventional because of the horizontal masthead,the main cover-line,the models direct address in eye contact and the model 'Winnie Harlow' being the main image. Although conventional, ELLE can be seen as edgy , this is due to ;clothing,makeup,the slanted writing and it does not follow a three colour scheme, it contains white,pink,green and yellow. In my opinion, these colours can be seen as clashing,which is why the magazine seems so appealing because its using such vibrant and exuberant colours to draw the viewers eye. This also links to the Main cover-line 'The face of now why difference is everything' , it links because these colours standout and so will the next front covers of ELLE. 

Conventions of a fashion mag

Task- name I-d and Dazed conventions :

I-D:
doesn't have the traditional title that goes across the model but its at thye left side of the models head going vertical.

Dazed:
has the traditional masthead but going behind the models head.

Traditional 'High End fashion':

• Conventions - masthead is vertical, on top of models head/cover lines /female and of a certain age/3 colour scheme /white slim women.

• Representations-
• Audience-older audience

Edgy/alternative fashion Mags:

• Conventions-masthead=vertical/horizontal/muted colour scheme/cover lines.
• Representations-Mid shot-zooey d meant to be looking amazed / doll like/gothic /direct address in I-d by Adwoa aboha
• Audience-younger audience
